For each incorrect answer one-fourth of a mark will be subtracted. Similarly for an unattempted question, 0.05 marks will be subtracted. The subtraction however, will come into effect only when more than 12 questions are unanswered, which is when the negative marking will be applicable.

For the second part of the test that comprises of General Awareness, and Essay writing, candidates are expected to complete the General Awareness section within the first 10 minutes, with the remaining 25 minutes to be dedicated to essay writing.
  • The marks scored in the General Awareness section will be taken into consideration only during the final selection, and not while short listing candidates for GD & PI.

If the trends of the previous few years were to be followed, the exam could an alteration in the number of questions in each section. That being said, XLRI does not intend to increase the number of questions in XAT 2018, and the number of questions may be further reduced from the existing 72.
