Entrance Exam

JOINT ENTRANCE TEST (JET) is conducted for admission to MBBS/BDS courses in (i) Mahatma Gandhi Dental College and Hospital, Pondicherry; and (ii) Vinayaka Mission Medical College, Karaikal.

Courses

Admission is open to Pondicherry residents except All India Entrance conducted by CBSE.

Eligibility

Age: 17-21 yrs on 31st December of the year of admission (17-24 yrs in case of SC/ST candidates).

Educational Qualification: Candidate must has passed HSC (Academic) exam conducted by the board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu or its equivalent in first attempt securing 50% marks in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. (Improvement marks are not considered).

Candidates should be medically fit.

Criteria for Domicile (For Pondicherry candidates)

1. 5 yrs stay in Pondicherry.
   
   
2. Passed SSLC/HSC and had for that purpose undergone academic studies continuously for 3 successive classes immediately preceding the qualifying exam located in the UT of Pondicherry and having their residence in Pondicherry for 3 yrs.

Exceptions: Children of Central/State Government employees/Public Sector Undertaking serving in Pondicherry; French nationals residing in the UT of Pondicherry.

Reservation of Seats

75% / 85% of seats is reserved for Pondicherry residents and remaining from other parts of India. 75 per cent (HSC Academic) / 85 per cent (HSC Vocational) of seats are reserved for Pondicherry residents and remaining 25 per cent / 15 per cent seats are for candidates from other parts of the India.

Application Procedure

One can obtain application forms of Puducherry Joint Entrance Test (JET) 2007, by sending a request along with a demand draft of Rs.565/-(Rs. 190 /- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favor of the Convenor, CENTAC, payable at Puducherry and two self addressed slips to the Convenor, Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), Pondicherry Engineering College Campus, Puducherry, 605014 on or before 11th May, 2007.

It can also be obtained in person from selected post offices on payment of Rs. 520/- (Rs.145/- for SC/ST candidates).

The application forms of Puducherry JET along with the necessary enclosures should reach the Convenor, Joint Entrance Test, 2007 Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), Pondicherry Engineering College Campus, Puducherry, 605014 on or before 11th May, 2007.

Exam Pattern

The test is conducted at Pondicherry and consists of 80 objective type questions in Physics & Chemistry and 10 questions in Biology (Zoology & Botany). The result is notified in leading newspapers and displayed in the College.

Important Date

Date of Issuing of Forms: 20th April, 2007.

Last date of Receipt of Application form: 11th May, 2007.

Date of Entrance Exam: 30th and 31st May, 2007.

Paper I: 30th May (10 a.m to 12 noon)
Paper II: 30th May (2 p.m to 4 p.m)
Paper III: 31st May (10 a.m to 12 noon).
