This year, the University of Delhi (DU) has received more than 3.5 lakh applications for admission to just above 6,000 seats in various under-graduate (UG) courses at the 64 colleges that are part of DU. This means that there are approximately 58 students competing for a seat in DU! The Delhi University is the educational destination for every aspiring student in Delhi and neighboring states. Even students from distant parts of the nation apply to DU and hope to secure a seat at the prestigious university which can inarguably be called the most popular university in India. However, out of the countless students who apply for its courses every year, only a relative handful get to fulfill their dreams of studying in the university.

The first cut-off for admissions 2017-18 to the Delhi University were out last week and the cut-off figures are astronomically high as has been the trend over the last many years. There is no need to lose hope if you are among those who could not make it to Delhi University (DU) this year, because there are a lot of opportunities beyond DU to explore. Dreams obviously do not end with Delhi University! Just relax, as opportunities are many and you can choose a quality career in dozens of other renowned private universities and colleges scattered all across the city.

You can look for alternatives which are plentiful in the national capital territory of Delhi. Many of these are world-renowned for their educational programs and some specialize in specific areas of study. With the hype over DU and its courses showing no signs of abating, it is a good idea to plan for alternatives for your education and make contingency plans if you are not able to get through to the DU college of your choosing. So here's a look at universities & institutes in Delhi apart from DU where you can consider applying for higher education:
