IIT Kanpur to conduct JEE Advanced 2018 on May 20; Exam to go online

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur is set to conduct JEE Advanced 2018 on May 20. The examination will be conducted in the online mode as opposed to the pen-paper mode followed until this year. The Joint Admission Board (JAB) took the decision to conduct the exam online to make the evaluation process and logistics easier.

JEE Advanced 2017 was conducted by IIT Madras on May 21, 2017. The results were published soon after in the month of June on June 11, 2017.

Anyone seeking admission into IITs, NITs, ISM Dhanbad and IISc Bangalore have to pass the JEE Advanced exam to qualify for admission into these prestigious institutes.

Out of the lakh of students who appear for JEE Main exam only the top 2,20,000 candidates are considered eligible for JEE Advanced. This eligibility criteria will remain the same even if the exam is conducted in the online mood.

Due to the errors in the question paper and the unsystematic system of grace marks the counselling process was put on hold by the Supreme Court mid-way until the IITs submitted an undertaking that stated that no such error will take place in the future.

The JAB however said that the idea of conducting the exam online had been floating around for a while. The complete details regarding JEE Advanced 2018 will be released soon.

We can expect the JEE Main 2018 to be conducted sometime in the first week of April 2018 since the JEE Advanced 2018 exam date has already been finalized to May 20, 2018.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has set up a Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2017 to take care of the joint seat allocation based on the JEE Advanced results for admission into 97 institutes for the academic year 2017-18.
