Starting from August 9, you will be able to order NCERT books online and get it by post. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is launching a portal tomorrow, that will allow parents and schools across the country to place textbook orders directly with the body. This will help parents save money spent on sourcing expensive books from private publishes whenever there is a non-availability.The portal will have tracking facility and online payment facilities too.

Schools will have the option of getting the books delivered through authorized vendors or authorized centres. All the schools will be given at least a month’s time to upload their requirement. NCERT publishes 364 textbook titles in Hindi, English and Urdu annually which are delivered through 680 authorized vendors across the country. Approximately 42.5 million books are used by CBSE affiliated schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, and the number could go up to 130 million. This step will hopefully mitigate the problem of book shortage or unavailability henceforth.
