The NEET counselling session has not gone down well with many states. The state of Maharashtra has approached the Bombay High Court in order to sought independent counselling for MBBS and BDS courses in various medical colleges in the state. Out of eight medical institutes, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, DY Patil College and Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences have appealed against the Government's ordinance which have made NEET compulsory for admission to medical courses across India.

Though, the institutes have agreed to consider NEET ranking, they want to conduct their own counselling rather than a common counselling. The Bombay High Court, today, have put a stay on Maharashtra government's resolution for conducting an independent counselling.
