No UGC-NET in July 2017; CBSE to conduct NET on 19 November, 2017
New Delhi: The National Eligibility Test (NET), which used to be a bi-annual affair, will not be conducted in July this year as expected. Instead, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which conducts the UGC-NET has released a notification this year, stating that the next UGC-NET will be conducted on 19 November, 2017. An official notification with details about the upcoming exam will be released on the official website (cbsenet.nic.in) on 24 July, 2017.

NET is a national level examination conducted to determine eligibility for lectureship (as assistant professor) and for award of Joint Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals as a standard test for entrants in the teaching profession and research at the university level.
Ever since the news of the June-July UGC-NET having been given a miss was out yesterday, the All-India Students’ Association (AISA) has been demonstrating outside the University Grants Commission (UGC) office despite heavy police presence.UGC aspirants have been protesting that they feel cheated by the fact that the UGC won't conducted the exam in June-July. The NET exam is conducted twice a year annually.
