UPSC: IES/ISS 2017 exam to be conducted on May 12

Application Forms Now Available

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the exam notification for the Indian Economic Services (IES) and Indian Statistical Services (ISS), 2017 on its official website. IES/ISS Exam is a combined competitive examination conducted by the UPSC for recruitment to Junior Time scale of the services. The last date for submitting the application forms will be on 3 March 2017. The exam date for IES/ISS Exam is on 12 May 2017.




The appointment for the services would be made based on number of available vacancies and the marks obtained by the candidates. There are 44 posts that will be vacant for IES (15 posts) and ISS (29 posts). Candidates must check the eligibility criteria and also read the instructions before they apply for the IES/ISS Exam. E-Admission certificate shall be issued three weeks prior to the commencement of the exam and candidates can gain access to their e-admission certificate that will be put up on the official website of UPSC.

The Indian Economic Service (IES)/ Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination will consist of two parts.
1)    Written Exam (1000 Marks)
2)    The Viva Voce (Oral exam) (200 Marks)
Candidates will get negative marks if they provide wrong answers in the objective type question papers. All question papers must be answered in English. The question papers in all subjects in IES and ISS exam will be that of essay type but question papers such as Statistics Paper 1 and 2 will have objective type question papers.

The Exam will take place across various cities in India including centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Allahabad, Ahmedabad, Dispur, Chennai, Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram, Shimla and more. Candidates are advised to apply early so that they could get the exam centre of their choice. If the capacity of a particular exam centre gets full, candidates will have to choose one of the remaining exam centres where they could write their exam.
