NIMCET 2012 Exam Pattern


In this section NIMCET 2012 Eligibility Criteria and Exam Pattern are presented.

NIMCET 2012 is a competitive examination where several thousand students compete for few hundred seats available in NITs for MCA courses. NIMCET 2012 shall test you for your knowledge of what you studied till undergraduate level vis-à-vis, your aptitude, if you would be able to complete course work in computer applications and further be able to practice computing as a career option.

NIMCET Exam Pattern 2012

  • 50 questions in Mathematics
  •  40 questions in Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning
  • 10 Questions in Computer Awareness
  • 20 Questions in General English

NIMCET Important Factors

  • Total 120 Questions should be asked.
  • Candidates require answering questions from all the sections.
  • All Questions shall be Objective Type / Multiple Choice Type
  • 4 marks awarded for every correctly answered question.
  • Negative 1 mark awarded for every wrongly answered question

NIMCET 2012 Eligibility Criteria


Indian Nationals securing atleast 60% marks aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC, ST category) in :
(i) 12th (i.e. 10 + 2) level or equivalent, with Mathematics as one of the subjects at either 10+1 or  10+2 level or at both the levels
AND
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree of Full time * 3 year or more duration from a recognized University with at least one of the following as a chosen subject of study:
  • Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Business Mathematics
  • Business Statistics
  • Discrete Mathematics
  • Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science
  • Computational Mathematics
  • Elementary Mathematics

Elementary Statistics are eligible to apply for NIMCET-2012. The percentages of marks in 10+2 and qualifying degree are to be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in all the subjects (including optional subjects, if any ) studied.

NOTE: * Students who have completed/completing qualifying degree (programme of three year or more duration) from Open Universities are eligible to apply provided their programme is approved by UGC or AICTE and Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt. of India. 

The candidates who are appearing for all the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for NIMCET-2012. Such candidates shall have to furnish the the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-2012 preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than August 31, 2012, failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled by the respective NITs.
