National Institute of Technology Hamirpur - Introduction

The National Institute of Technology Hamirpur (NIT Hamirpur) was established in 1986 in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The institute is jointly supported by the Government of Himachal Pradesh and the Government of India.The institute has been recognized as institute of national importance and hence the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has bestowed it with the Deemed University status.The college provides Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctorate Education in Engineering, Sciences & Humanities.  It has been given the status of Deemed University.

Facilities include a well equipped central library, health center, hostels, a sports complex and auditorium. . As per the admission policy of Govt. of India, 50% of the students,  are from the state of Himachal Pradesh, whereas the other 50% are from the other States. Institute provides hostel accommodation to all the students. There are six hostels in this institute. Five of it are for boys and girls have the separate one. Internet facility has been provided in every room of each host.
