Applications are invited for twenty "Raiat Jayanti Vigyan Sancharak Fellowships" instituted by Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Pradyogiki Sanchar Parishad, Department of Science & Technology.

The fellowship recognizes Science Communicators with uniformly brilliant academic record and supports innovative work in selected scientific institutions/universities/ S&T based voluntary organizations under the guidance of a senior science communicator. These are full time fellowships and con not be taken up with any other assignment.

The candidates below 35 years on 31.12.2010 (relaxable by 5 years for women),must possess a graduation or higher degree in science, engineering, medical science, agriculture, information technology, mass communication etc. from a recognized university.

The duration of the fellowship will be for one year and will comprise honorarium of Rs. 12,000/- per month (Rs. 16,000/- in case of a PhD), an annual contingency of Rs. 30,000/- and travel grant of Rs. 15,000/- Mentors will receive Rs. 20,000/- in a year.

Applicants are requested to carefully study Annexure I-V at website: www.dst.gov.in before submitting the proposal.

The selection will be made by a Committee of experts and decision of DST will be final. Applications to be submitted in the following format.

Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students

UGC invites applications for the award of “Maulana Azad National
Fellowship for Minority Students” for the year 2009-10.

The Scheme will cater to the requirement of the minority community students pursuing the research studies leading to regular and full time M.Phil, Ph.D and equivalent research degrees in universities/ Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2f and Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. This will enable them to undertake research in Arts, Science, Commerce and Engineering/ Technology.

The total number of fellowship each year will be 756.

Eligibility

i) The candidate should belong to one of the minority communities (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists & Parsis) notified under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1972.

ii) He/she should get admission and registration for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D courses in University/Academic Institution by fulfilling conditions of admission of that University/Institution, subject to provisions of the scheme as per advertisement of UGC.

iii) The minority community students once considered eligible for the fellowship shall not be entitled to benefits under any other scheme from any other source like Central or State Government or any other body like UGC etc. for the same study.

iv) Prior clearance of NET/SLET examination will not be a prerequisite for award of MAKA fellowship for M.Phil/Ph.D.

v) In order to qualify for the award of fellowship, the UGC norms for admission to M.Phil and Ph.D courses in universities/academic institutions would be applicable.

vi) Candidates for fellowship will avail the quota of their State of domicile irrespective of their place of study.

Research Award under Post Doctoral Fellowship – 2010

The University Grants Commission invites applications every alternate year for 100 slots of " Research Award under Post Doctoral Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences ; Sciences and Engineering & Technology.

The objectives of the scheme are to provide opportunities to regularly appointed permanent teachers of Universities / Institutions / Colleges to pursue research in their area(s) of specialization for a period of two years (extendable by one year in exceptional cases) without undertaking any research guidance.

Eligibility:

Applicant possessing Ph.D degree should be a regularly appointed permanent teacher of Universities / Institutions / Colleges recognized under section 2(f) and 12 B of the UGC Act 1956 and should not be more than 45 years of age at the time of submission of the application form. In case of Women, SC/ ST / OBC (non creamy layer) / Physically Handicapped, Minorities, the age limit shall be 50 years.

Remuneration and Research Grant:

The Commission will reimburse to the Universities / Institutions / Colleges full salary and allowances of the Awardee together with a research grant to the tune of Rs. 2.00 lakh for Humanities and Social Sciences ; and Rs. Rs. 3.00 lakh for Sciences / Natural Sciences and Engineering & Technology to meet his / her contingency expenditure.

The application in the prescribed format (Annexure-I) along with Proforma (to be attached on the top of the application) in two sets duly completed in all respects and recommended by the parent Universities / Institutions / Colleges where the candidate intends to
work may be sent to the Deputy Secretary (Selection & Awards Bureau) University Grants Commission, Delhi University South Campus, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi - 110 021 within one month from the date of publication of the advertisement in National Dailies.

Applications not routed through proper channel, incomplete in any respect and received after the due date, will not be entertained. The Commission reserves the right to cancel or withdraw the Post Doctoral research award without assigning any reason.

The selection will be made on the basis of merit and on the recommendations of the Selection Committee constituted by the Commission. The decision of the Commission shall be final. NTPC offers exclusive Scholarships for SC / ST students, pursuing full time 3 years Diploma in Engineering from a recognized institute.

Eligibility

Students should have successfully cleared their first year examination of full-time 3 years Diploma Engineering course in the disciplines of Electrical / Electronic/ Instrumentation / Mechanical / Civil and be relatively meritorious among the SC/ST candidates.

Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation - Inlakhs Fellowship Programme for Field Biology, Ecology and Conservation
Inlakhs Fellowship Programme

The Inlakhs Foundation calls for applications to Inlakhs Fellowship Programme for Field Biology, Ecology and Conservation which provides funds for three major activities:

A Master`s degree at a university abroad
An internship with an organisation abroad
A short conservation research or implementation project within India

Eligibility

Applicants must demonstrate a deep interest in wildlife ecology and conservation through some sort of prior involvement in this field. Applicants must also submit a statement of purpose demonstrating their commitment to conservation; a strong justification of how the fellowship will further conservation in India; and (for Small Grant applicants), a project proposal with budget.

Applicants for any of the Program activities must hold a Bachelors degree in any subject, and should be under the age of 30 on 15 April 2010. For Program activities 2 and 3 (ie, internship and small grant), these requirements may be relaxed under exceptional circumstances.

What it covers: Fellowship recipients will receive a stipend, travel funds and an amount covering course fees (where relevant). Fellows may also be granted an additional amount towards project expenses, subject to a maximum of Rs 200,000 per year (most grants of this nature will be under Rs 100,000 per year).

Selection: Each activity is intended to have an explicit conservation focus, with an emphasis on clear on-ground conservation benefits. Successful applicants will ordinarily hold a Bachelor`s degree (in any discipline) and be below the age of 30 on the date of the application deadline.

To apply, you must prepare a statement of purpose, a strong justification of how your receiving this fellowship would benefit conservation in India, and (for Small Grants applicants) a project proposal with budget.

Chevening Sports Scholarship 2010-11 Open for applications

The Chevening Sports Scholarship offers a complete scholarship to cover the costs of a 1-year Masters Degree in sports leadership, management, business or administration in an accredited University in the UK.

These awards are targeted at future leaders in sporting governance and management, who would be expected to return and help build sustainable sporting infrastructures.

In addition to the standard Chevening awards, UK Sport will provide Chevening sports leadership scholars with a surrounding programme of relevant activity, including voluntary and community activities, attendance at sporting events, work placements and visits, during their stay in the UK. The surrounding programme will be tailored to meet individual interest and location .

This scheme primarily offers funding for masters programme in Sports. Candidates must apply directly to a UK institution for a place to study a Masters or postgraduate course before applying for a Chevening Scholarship

Eligibility

General Eligibility Criteria

Indian national with a valid Indian passport

Of outstanding academic ability with a good first degree (a minimum of upper second class) or equivalent from a recognized Indian university

fluent in written and spoken English

wish to study a Masters Course at a UK institution for no more than 12 months

The candidate should ideally have 2-5 years work experience and have a proven track record of success or excellence in their professional field, specifically in areas of sports physical education, sport management or sports governance.

They should display both intellectual ability and leadership potential and be able to demonstrate the benefit they will receive from the Sports Masters degree programme in the UK.

On their return, they should be able to substantially contribute to developing sustainable sporting infrastructure in the country, preferably at the grassroots level.

They should be able to show how they will play a crucial role in developing ties between India and the UK in the field of Sport.

How to apply

It is the responsibility of the applicants to identify a suitable Masters programme and apply for a course beginning in September / October 2010 and also ensure that they secure admission.

Kendriya Sainik Board - Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme - 2010
Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme

Applications are invited from the dependent wards/widows of Ex-Servicemen pursuing professional degree programmes, duly recognized by the respective government regulatory bodies such as MCI, AICTE and UGC etc. The scheme will be applicable only to those who have joined the first year professional courses in the academic year 2009-10

Amount of Scholarship :

(a) Rs.1250/— per month for boys
(b) Rs.1500/- per month for girls

Scholarships will be paid annually

The Application Form/ Brochure would be displayed. This form is to be downloaded, filled in own handwriting or duly typed.

K.C. Mahindra - Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad - 2010
The trustees of K.C.Mahindra Education trust offer interest-free loan scholarships to Indian nationals for Post-Graduate studies abroad in various fields.

Applications are invited for the K.C. Mahindra Scholarships for the year 2010 for advanced studies in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities, Medicine & Business Management including the study of Military, Naval and Aviation Sciences.

The Maximum amount of scholarships payable to any scholar shall not exceed Rs.95,000/- Applicants for these scholarships are required to satisfy the following conditions:

1. They must possess a FIRST CLASS degree or an equivalent diploma of the same standard from a recognised Indian University.

2. They must have secured admission or have applied for admission in reputable foreign Universities for courses commencing from August/ September, 2010 but not later than February, 2011.

Candidates studying in the FINAL YEAR of the degree or diploma courses are also eligible to apply provided they produce their Final Year Certificate before end June,2010.

Government and Quasi-Government Officers with a creditable academic record, going abroad for specialised qualifications are also eligible to apply.
