Eligibility Criteria

1) Age - Up to 35 years

2) Academic - First or Second Class Masters in Social Science from a recognized University

3) Other - MPhil or UGC/ CSIR NET

Scholarship Details

1) Number of Fellowships
  • Centrally Administrated Open Doctoral Fellowships - 55
  • Institutional Doctoral Fellowships - 50 (through 18 ICSSR Research Institutes in India)
2) Duration - 2 years +1 year (only for unemployed scholars)

3) Value
  • Employed Scholar - Salary and allowance protection
  • Unemployed Scholar - Rs.6000 pm
4) Contingency Grant - Rs.12000 pa

Application Procedure - Application in the prescribed format should be submitted along with the relevant documents.


Notification & Deadline
  • Notified through leading newspapers, scholarly journals and magazines in July/August
  • Deadline as per the notification
