Quality Improvement Programme (QIP)Eligibility Criteria - 1) Age - Not more than 40 years as on the 1st of July of the year of award
2) Relaxation - 5 years in age limit for women and SC/ST candidates
3) Academic Qualifications - Masters in Engineering /Technology / Pharmacy with a minimum of 55% marks
Fellowship Details1) Number of Fellowships - 50
2) Duration - 2 years + 3 years or till the submission of PhD thesis, whichever is earlier
3) Value - MPhil Rs.8000 pm
PhD Rs.10000 pm
4) Contingency Grant - MPhil Rs.12000 pa
PhD Rs.25000 pa
5) Escorts/Reader Assistance - Rs.1000 pm (For physically handicapped and blind candidates)
6) House Rent Allowance - Suitable single-seated hostel accommodation or HRA as per rules of the University/Institution or HRA as per categorisation of the cities by the Government of India
7) Departmental Assistance - Rs.3000 pa per student to the Host Institution for providing infrastructure
8) Disbursement - Administered by the Host Institution where the Fellow is registered for MPhil/ PhD
9) Monitoring of Progress - Progress is monitored by the supervisor/ guide and reflected in the yearly progress report submitted to the University for submission to the UGC office
Selection Procedure - The candidates selected on the basis of merit are then interviewed by a committee appointed by UGC. This committee makes the final selection
