University Grants Commission - Junior Research FellowshipsEligibility Criteria1) Age - Below 28 years when appearing for UGC/UGC-CSIR National Eligibility Test
2) Relaxation - 5 years in age limit for women, SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH, and those having LLM degree.
3) Academic - At least 55% marks in the relevant Master Degree.
4) Qualifying Exam - UGC/ UGC-CSIR NET
5) Other - The candidate should be registered for MPhil/ PhD or should do so within a period of one year from the declaration of NET/UGC-CSIR examination results.
Fellowship Details1) Duration - 2 years + 3 years or till the submission of PhD thesis, whichever is earlier.
2) Value3) Contingency Grant- Humanities Rs.10000 pa
- Sciences Rs.12000 pa
- Humanities Rs.20500 pa
- Sciences Rs.25000 pa
4) Escorts/Reader Assistance - Rs.1000 pm (For physically handicapped and blind candidates)
5) House Rent Allowance - Suitable single-seated hostel accommodation or HRA as per rules of the University/Institution or HRA as per categorisation of the cities by the Government of India.
6) Departmental Assistance - Rs.3000 pa per student to the Host Institution for providing infrastructure
7) Disbursement - Administered by the Host Institution where the Fellow is registered for MPhil/PhD
8) Monitoring of Progress - Progress is monitored by the supervisor/guide and reflected in the yearly progress report submitted to the University for submission to the UGC office.
Selection Procedure - As per the procedure of the Host Institution.
Notification & Deadline - Notified from time to time by the Universities/Institutions recognised under Sec. 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act.
