The state of Kerala offers District Merit Scholarships (DMS) to the first 15 rank holders in the SSLC examination in the state and the next 5 rank holders in each district. Additionally, District Merit Scholarship is also awarded to 3 students who secure the highest marks in science subjects in each district and 2 students who secure highest marks in non- science subjects in each district in the Pre Degree/ equivalent examination and to one student in science subjects and non science subjects in each district for Degree Examination of April/ May.

Students, irrespective of the income of their family, can avail this scholarship.

Value of Scholarship:

The value of the scholarship is Rs.2, 000/- per year. (The)

Eligibility:

• The scholarships on the basis of results of S.S.L.C. Examination will be available to 5 (five) students in each Revenue district who secure the highest marks in that District in the S.S.L.C. Examination held in March/April of the proceeding academic year.
  
  
• The scholarships on the basis of results of Pre-Degree Examination will be available to 3 (three) students in each Revenue District who secure the highest marks in that district science subjects and to 2(two) students in each Revenue District who secure the highest marks in that District in non science subjects in the Pre-Degree Examination held in April/May of the proceeding academic year.
  
  
• The scholarships on the basis of results of the degree examination will be available to one student in each Revenue District who secure the highest marks in that District for Science subjects and also to one student who secure the highest marks in that District in non-science subjects in the degree examination held in April/May of the preceding academic year.

Scholarship Duration:

District Merit Scholarships are tenable as long as the students eligible for the award continue their studies without failing in any examination.

Mode of Scholarship Payment:

The Government of Kerala grants the Scholarship amount in two equal installments- one in the second term and the second installment in the third term of the academic year.
