The scholarships under this scheme are available for Ganabhooshan and Ganapraveena courses in Music in the SST College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram, and Govt. Music Academies running in the State.

- These scholarships will be awarded on the basis of poverty to students whose parental/guardian's income does not exceed Rs.2000/-per annum. The income certificate should be submitted in the prescribed form duly countersigned by a I Class Magistrate.
- The awardee under this scheme of scholarships will not be allowed to receive any other scholarship. In case he is in receipt of any such award, the same must be surrendered and the amount if any received under the latter refunded before the benefit of the State Scholarship can be claimed. However, students who are in receipt of fee concession and financial assistance from the Harijan Welfare Department are eligible for this scholarship.
Selection
(a) Selection for the award of this scholarship will be made strictly on the basis of annual parental income.
(b) If in any year, there are not sufficient qualified applicants under "Ganabhooshan Course", the excess number of scholarships therein will be temporarily transferred to "Ganapraveena course" if large number of applicants are there and vice versa , limiting the expenditure to the budget provision.
(c) If the vacancy arises during one's course of study, after availing of a portion of the scholarship, the vacancy will be filled up by awarding the scholarship to the scholarship to the next eligible student in the merit list, with effect from the date of commencement of the vacancy.
Award of Scholarships
The selection of candidates and the award of scholarships will be made by the Director of Collegiate Education from among the applications received through the Heads of Govt. Music Institutions. The Director of Collegiate Education will have power to reject any application for scholarships from students.
The duration of the scholarship awarded is one year only; but is renewable till the course is over, subject to the following conditions:-
The renewal of scholarships once awarded will depend upon promotion to the next higher class (in the same course) and secure at least 45% marks in the aggregate in the terminal examination which determines promotion.
Good conduct and character, progress of study, regularity in attendance etc. as certified by the Head of the Institution are also conditions for the renewal of the scholarship.
If a scholar fails in the annual promotion examination or shows unsatisfactory progress during his course of studies or is irregular in attendance or his conduct and character are unsatisfactory, his scholarship will be suspended or cancelled which is based on the report of the Head of the Institutions. In all these matters, the decision of the scholarship awarding authority shall be final and binding.
