Universities that offer Science Courses in India

Universities offering Science courses are abundant in India. While the most popular institutions that offer science (non medical) courses are the Indian Institutes of Technology, but there are a lot of other well known universities in India as well which offer courses in science at the undergraduate, post graduate and even the PhD level.

Scientific fields are commonly divided into two major groups: social science, that is, the science which deals with the study of human behavior and societies and natural science, that is, the science which deals with the study of natural phenomena (which includes biological life). These groupings are empirical in nature, which means the knowledge must be based on observable phenomena and capable of being tested for its validity by other researchers working under the same conditions. Most universities offer courses in both, social and natural sciences. Some of the science courses offered in different universities are in the field of chemistry, physics, genetics, biology, biotechnology, microbiology, horticulture, polymer science, electronics, astrophysics, atmospheric science, biophysics, botany, zoology, electronics, marine science, computer statistics, neuroscience and radio physics.

Mathematics is classified as a formal science, and it has both, similarities and differences with the empirical sciences (the natural and social sciences). It is similar to empirical sciences in that it involves an objective, careful and systematic study of an area of knowledge; it is different because of its method of verifying its knowledge, using a priori rather than empirical methods. Universities offer undergraduate, post graduate and even PhD level courses in mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science among other.

For your convenience, the National Network of Education (NNE) has compiled a list of all universities and institutions offering programs in Natural and Social Sciences. To know about various Universities/Institutions that offer programmes in science, please Click Here
