The government of Dubai realised the need for a well-educated and trained workforce to progress in every spehere. As a result, the government has made extra efforts and took initiatives for building schools and colleges of higher education and improve standards and quality of teaching and education. - Primary
- Secondary
- Collegiate
- 4 to 5 year-olds attend kindergarten
- 6 to 11 year-olds attend primary schools
- the preparatory stage caters for children aged between 12 to 14 years and
- 15 to 17 year-olds attend secondary schools
UAE has several public and private schools both for the locals and expatriates. The medium of instruction in public schools is Arabic with emphasis on English as a second language. The Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates is responsible for school's accreditation.
There are many schools like the Delhi Private School, Our Own English High School, the Dubai Modern High School, Buds Public School, Dubai and the The Indian High School, Dubai offer either a CBSE or an ICSE Indian syllabus and caters to the expatriate community. Dubai English Speaking School, Jumeirah Primary School, Jebel Ali Primary School, Jumeirah English Speaking School, King's School and the Horizon School all offer British primary education up to the age of eleven.
Dubai has also a fairly large number of colleges and universities which has grown in the last 20 years. Most of these colleges are affiliated to universities abroad and English is the medium of instruction in these colleges. In addition, there are several technical and professional institutions offering technical qualifications.
