Jobs For Students in Dubai


International students in Dubai with student visa are not allowed to do any type of job. However, they are allowed to work for an internship. To work in an internship program, students will need permission from their university. Some universities in Dubai help students to find internships. So if these internships are available, you may work while studying otherwise you may not work while studying in Dubai.

Work Permit 


International Students can work part time for 20 hours a week in free zone areas they are required to get the permission from universities.

Part Time Jobs in Dubai


Current labour laws of the UAE do not permit students on student visas from undertaking paid employment in any capacity. Placement opportunities may be limited but will be in the areas of marketing, human resources, information systems and sales.

Full Time Jobs in Dubai

The job market is quite competitive, so be prepared to spend a few months searching in order to secure a quality full time, reasonably paid job. You should therefore make sure you are able to financially support yourself during this time.

Work Experience or Internships During Studies

Some universities works with local companies to arrange internship placements, for both postgraduate and undergraduate students.  Students can also arrange their own internships through their own contacts.

Work on a Student Visa

Currently,  labour law in UAE,  does not allow students on university sponsored visas to do any sort of paid work. Students may take up unpaid internships but must get permission from their respective university before starting the internship. Post graduate students who secure full time work must change from the university sponsored visa to an employer sponsored visa. Employer sponsored visas are generally not available for any part time work.

Salaries

Salaries in Dubai range enormously depending on the particular company and the field of work. The range for fresh graduates can be anything from about AED 3,500 per month up to about AED 5,000 or AED 6000. people with a few years relevant experience and for managerial positions an expect from AED 6000 to AED 15,000 and above. All depends on the company, your experience and area of expertise.

The main category of Dubai work visa is referred to as the “Residence permit for employment issued for an employee”. It permits an employee planning to work in Dubai in a private sector role to remain for up to three years. To qualify for this category of Dubai work permit, applicants must provide a range of evidence in support of their application. There are many foreign students who work part-time in the UAE, and many part-time jobs are advertised for the same purpose. Some things to keep in mind are as follows:
  • Students at universities and colleges in the UAE might find internships if their institute makes arrangements with various companies or organizations.
  • Internships are usually unpaid jobs. Students must obtain permission from the institute where they are studying at, before they start working for an internship. 
  • Any foreign expat who is employed in the UAE needs to obtain a labour card (employment / work permit) from the UAE Ministry of Labour. Usually the employer arranges this for the employee.
  • Minimum employment age in the UAE is 18 years of age.
