Select the subject you want to research on, in your masters, so that it gives you a clearer idea about the subject and the topic you want to research on.

Shortlist Universities: Select the universities you would want to apply to, for your research. Click here for a list of top 100 universities in the US. Also, keep in mind the fee structure, your GRE/TOEFL scores, the acceptance rate of those universities and the faculty.
Recommendation Letters: The best people to write recommendation letters are are top-notch researchers in the field with whom you have worked, a faculty member from your bachelors/masters college, undergrad thesis adviser or a past employer.
Write an SOP stating why you want to join a particular program under a particular adviser, in a particular college
Arrange for your past mark sheets, and work experience certificates, since most universities require the original mark sheets and degree certificates. In case you can not provide the originals, contact the university for alternatives. Often, a certified copy of the transcript in a signed and sealed envelope will suffice
Have the GRE and TOEFL scores reported to the appropriate department of the university. You will need the institution codes, department codes, your credit card number and its date of expiration and of course, your test registration number and date of testing.

Respected sir/madam, i have completed b.sc nursing with 1st division in sept.2010. i have 1year 6 months experience in clinical area.My IELTS overall score is 6band overall. Hello Girishkumar,First you have to take TOEFL. Then appear for SAT. 89 is the minimum requirement in TOEFL. Try to get at least 1700 in SAT to qualify for good US university. Gather letter of recommendation from your school. Your essay should be touching. Extra curricular activity certificates should be attached with your application form.
