Courses a) Master of Life Sciences The Master of Life Sciences program
enables practicing science teachers to pursue a 30-credit interdisciplin ary graduate degree in life sciences
withoncentration options in biology and chemistry from the University of Maryland. The Web-based program allows you to earn your graduate degree when and where it is most convenient for you, while satisfying state requirements for the Career Development Standard Professional Certificate.
b)Professional Master of Engineering Fire Protection Option
The University of Maryland Department of Fire Protection Engineering, one of the few places in the world offering degrees in fire protection engineering, announces a new, Web-based fire protection option under its existing Professional Master of Engineering programme. Designed with the working engineer in mind, the program features a curriculum rich in the latest scientific and technological principles and practices needed to advance your career.
The 30-credit programme can be completed in as few as two years, and you'll have the convenience and flexibility of learning when and where it's most convenient for you. In addition, you'll experience the same high standards of academic excellence and accessible resources that you'd expect from the leading educator of fire protection engineers-the University of Maryland.
Admission procedure
To be considered for admission to an online studies program at the University of Maryland, College Park, applicants must submit the following items to the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) office:
A completed online application form for the appropriate programme
A nonrefundable application fee of $50.
Two complete sets of transcripts reflecting all undergraduate and graduate work elected or in progress. Each transcript must bear the signature of the registrar and the seal of the granting institution and should include the years of attendance, courses taken, grades received, class standing and the degree, certificate or diploma received. If you attended the University of Maryland, College Park the SPOC Office will obtain the records of College Park courses completed. To facilitate the processing and review of an application, send two sets of unofficial copies of transcripts from institutions other than the University of Maryland, College Park. Official copies of those transcripts are required before full admission can be granted.
Letters of recommendation submitted by appropriate individuals who can assess the quality of the applicant's academic performance and scholastic potential. Letters of recommendation should be sent directly SPOC. Be certain that the applicant's full name is included on each recommendation.
Statement of Goals. Some online graduate programs require applicants to prepare a statement of his or her goals and objectives in pursuing graduate study.
