Your Admissions Counselor
To help you get started, your Admissions Counselor will guide you through the entire application process, and answer all your questions about your program, courses, forms, fees, transfer of credits, and credits awarded for work experience. Once your application and fees have been received, your Admissions Counselor will process your application, ship your Online Learning Software, help you order your textbooks and course materials, and get you into your first class. You can register for all your courses over the phone, or you can sign up via the Internet - no waiting in line required. Textbooks can be ordered the same way and shipped directly to you.
Your Financial Advisor
Your financial advisor will acquaint you with the various financial options available and help you choose the plan best suited to your needs. Your financial advisor is your contact for assistance with any financial matter, including any student loans, grants or outside funding you may be using.
Your Academic Counselor
After your first class, an academic counselor will replace your Admissions Counselor as your guide for the rest of your programme. Your academic counselor will provide a schedule indicating which classes you need to take and when. Your entire degree programme will be mapped out for you, including the exact date of your graduation. Your academic counselor will check in with you periodically to make sure you're comfortably on track. You can also contact your counselor at any time with problems or questions regarding any University matter, including classes, instructors, attendance or grades.
Format
You can complete 100% of our University studies from virtually anywhere in the world.
Since 1989, our computer-based educational delivery system has extended the boundaries of the classroom. The Online programmme uses the power of the Internet to deliver online learning that is independent of time and location. Rather than gathering in a classroom, students and instructors interact online or offline in a forum using Microsoft® technology.
How the Program Works
In the Online programme communication is many-to-many rather than one-to-one. Each class shares its own group mailbox, which serves as an "electronic classroom." While communication between individuals is common, each class uses a group forum where students put their work and ideas before classmates for comment. This upgrades the quality of most work before its more formal, academic review by the instructor.
Students can access research material from the University's Electronic Library. The Online programme is designed to benefit working professionals in a number of ways. Classes are offered one at a time, in sequence. There are no semesters, so students can begin a course of study during any part of the year. A student can concentrate on one subject at a time, and when a class is completed they can move on to the next one until all degree requirements are met.
Each online class lasts five or six weeks. A student can sign on any hour of the day or night, taking part at times that best fit his or her schedule. While this flexibility is unprecedented, it requires greater than average discipline and does not allow a student to "coast." Students devote an average of fifteen to twenty hours a week to their studies.
What It's Like Typically, on the first day of the week the instructor sends introductory information on the week's topic and confirms the assignments, such as reading from the textbook, completing a case study, or preparing a paper on the topic you're studying.
The instructor also posts a short lecture or elaborates on the material, and provides discussion questions related to the topic. Throughout the week you work on your reading and assignments on your own, just as you would in a traditional classroom setting. You use the computer conferencing system to participate in the class discussion and ask questions/receive feedback. When your assignments are due, you send them to your instructor online. Your instructor grades them and sends them back to you with comments.
Time At University of Phoenix, you attend class at the times and places that work best for you. You never have to waste any of your valuable time commuting to class, and you never have to worry about any scheduling conflicts. Because all discussions are conducted asynchronously, like e-mail, you participate at your own schedule. Courses are offered one at a time, for five or six weeks, so you can explore each subject in more depth. Most of our students can complete their degree in approximately two to three years.
Subjects
All of our online degree programs have been developed in cooperation with business and industry leaders; consequently you will learn only the most current business methods and practices. Classes are designed to be taken in sequence, one at a time, with each class lasting between five and six weeks.

International Students Admissions
In keeping with our philosophy that an effective business education must be global in scope, we encourage the participation of qualified international students in our programs. With more than 21 countries represented at University of Phoenix Online, we are able to take advantage of one of online communication's most compelling advantages and offer a true cross-cultural environment as part of the online experience.
All of our classes are taught in English and require proficiency in English. The TOEFL examination is required of applicants whose native language is not English. The TOEFL is given in both a computer-based and paper-based format. The applicant must have a minimum TOEFL score of 213 computer-based or 550 paper-based.
All academic records from countries other than the United States must be evaluated by the evaluation service approved by University of Phoenix. The evaluation services follow standards approved by the National Council on the Evaluation of Foreign Credentials. A special application form and fee is required for the evaluation. Applicants with non-U.S.A. education should contact a University of Phoenix campus for the appropriate application. If the academic records are in another language, a certified English translation is required. The University will accept translations from the issuing institution or an official translation service.
An applicant relying on education completed outside the United States for admission will not be eligible to attend classes prior to the University receiving a favorable evaluation from the approved credentials evaluation service and fulfilling all other admission requirements. Official documentation of the applicant's foreign education and the official evaluation report must be submitted with the admission file. One authorized evaluation service, Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. has a Web site. Find them online at http://www.ece.org
