France as a destination for higher studies


With more than 2.5lac international students, France is the worlds third-leading host country for higher education. France provides value for money by offering internationally recognized degrees at affordable costs. Additionally, In order to attract more international students, French universities are now increasingly using English as the language of instruction.

France, being one of the most sought after destinations in the world. Students admire France, which is  no surprise, given the abundance of amazing art,  rich culture, and colorful history—and that's  even without considering  Paris, capital of France Keep in mind, however, that your experience in France will vary depending on your ultimate destination.

France has more then 200 universities and many specialized post-secondary schools are spread throughout the country. In 1998, the French government introduced a  support policy to attract foreign students to French educational institutions. This policy was introduced and followed through by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and comprises of the four following components:

  1. To modify the policy of visas award, to contribute to its simplification and to give priority to the students. Two exceptional measures have been passed: the refusals of motivation and the right to appeal.
  2. To make diplomas more readily available in Europe more co-ordinated and more reliable.
  3. Create  agencies, especially present in educational fairs, to promote French higher education in foreign countries..
  4. To design programmes of French Government scholarships making them more lucrative to foreign students and also to make these grants match with the internationalisation of the French institutions of higher education.
