AFMC, Pune MBBS Admissions

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune, India is one of the most reputed medical colleges in India offering MBBS, nursing and other post graduate medical courses.

AFMC is the first medical college set up by the Armed Forces of any country in Asia. Its uniqueness lies in the way it combines medical education with training specific to the health care needs of India’s Armed Forces. AFMC is currently affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) to conduct Undergraduate and various Post – Graduate medical courses.

Admission to the MBBS program offered at AFMC, Pune, India is done through AIPMT exam (conducted by the CBSE), followed by a “Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR)” (conducted by AFMC) and a Psychological Assessment-cum-Interview at AFMC, Pune.

A total of 130 candidates (including a maximum of 25 girls) will be selected fior the MBBS seats. All the 105 boys and 25 girls admitted to AFMC, Pune have compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services on graduation. The type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination.

Ten seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates who also have similar service liability and have to fulfil the requirements of medical fitness, age, educational qualification and qualifying the entrance examination.

About MBBS from AFMC

The MBBScourse duration at AFMC is 4 years 6 months followed by 1 year of compulsary rotating internship training. Candidates who successfully complete course work are exclusively appointed as doctors to deploy their duties in Indian Armed Forces. AFMC Pune is residential medical college and research institution offering opportunities to men and women. The MBBS course at AFMC begins by August, 2022.

The liability of the SSC officers passing out of AFMC to serve the Armed Forces Medical Services would be seven (7) years. All candidates admitted to the college are required to execute a bond to this effect for an amount of 25 lacs (Rupees twenty five lacs) at the time of joining the college. Students removed from service liability due to any reason will have to pay the bond money as per conditions laid down by Govt of India.

AFMC 2022 Exam Pattern

AFMC no longer conducts its own medical entrance exam. Admission to the MBBS program offered at AFMC, Pune, India is done through AIPMT exam (conducted by the CBSE). This is followed by a “Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR)” (conducted by AFMC) and a Psychological Assessment-cum-Interview at AFMC, Pune. AFMC Exam Centres

AFMC will be accepting AIPMT scores for its MBBS admissions. Please go through the list of AIPMT exam centres. The “Test of English Language, Comprehension, Logic and Reasoning (ToELR)” will be conducted by AFMC at AFMC, Pune itself.

AFMC 2022 Eligibility Criteria

AFMC 2022 Results

AIPMT 2022 results declaration will be made by end of 2nd week of July 2022 (Tentative). Candidates shortlisted basis AIPMT scores will be then called for ToELR and Interview at AFMC, Pune. 

AFMC final results will be announced on the basis of the final score (AIPMT-2022 score, ToELR score and interview marks) and two merit lists, one for boys and one for girls, will be drawn up and admissions will be offered only to candidates on these merit lists in accordance with their final merit position.

Individual call letters of admission will be mailed by post only to selected candidates who have to join AFMC. These candidates will also be informed on their e-mail. The AFMC result will be also published by the O/o DGAFMS in leading national newspapers and displayed on the AFMC official website.
