Kurukshetra University is located in the holy city of Kurukshetra, land of the historical battle of ‘Mahabharata’ and the great message of Bhagwad Gita. Its campus is situated on the western bank of Brahm Sarover (the holy tank) and extends over an area of over 400 acres.

The Directorate of Distance Education of Kurukshetra University was started by the University in 1976 to make available the benefit of higher education to the multitude of people who due to various compulsions, and reasons could not continue their studies either due to limited seats available in regular colleges or due to pecuniary and other social reasons.

It started with only the Department of Sanskrit, but now it has grown into a multi-faculty University for advanced study and research in the region. All courses offered by the Kurukshetra University DDE are approved by the Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-Distance education council.
Courses offered:
The university offers traditional courses in Arts, Commerce and science for Masters. They also provide professional courses in computers, management courses, journalism and mass communication courses etc.
Admission:
Kurukshetra University offers the feature of both online as well as offline mode of registration. For offline registration the candidate has to fill the form according to the instructions and submit it along with supporting documents and a DD of 600/- made in favour of Registrar, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. Online applications can be filled and taken printouts of and should be mailed with the documents and the DD to The Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Kurukshetra University, Kuruksheta, Haryana 136119 after 10 days of applying online by hand or by post.
