AIEEE 2012 FAQ

AIEEE stands for All India Engineering Entrance Examination. It is a national level competitive exam which was introduced in the year 2002. The AIEEE is organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. It is basically a test conducted for the purpose of admission to numerous under-graduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes which accept the AIEEE score, including 5 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and 30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs).

Normally, the AIEEE paper consists of two section. One paper contains objective type questions on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The another sections is meant to test the imagination, innovative skills, observation skills,  and architectural awareness of the candidate. It includes Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing.

The AIEEE is usually held on the last Sunday of April and results are announced in the last week of May or the first week of June. Candidates are ranked on an all-India basis and state basis. Q. What is Online examination (CBT Mode) ?
Ans. It is a Computer based test which will be conducted online using the Local Area Network (LAN) to make this safe, secure and un-interupted.

Q. How to apply and what is the last date of applying for online exam ?
Ans. Through AIEEE website (http://aieee.nic.in). The last date is 31st December 2011.

Q. Is online examination based on Internet?
Ans. No

Q. When will online examination be conducted?
Ans. The planned scheduled is between 7th May to 26th May 2012

Q. What will be the time of online examination ?
Ans. The exam will be twice a day I.e. in two shifts. One shift from 9.00 AM to 12.00 PM and another one from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM

Q. What computer knowledge is required to appear for Online examination (CBT Mode) ?

Ans. The candidate need to know only how to operate computer mouse. That is all required.

Q. What are the advantages in opting for online mode of examination ?
Ans. You will get the flexibility in choosing the exam date (between 7th May and 26th May) of your choice as per your convenience. You will also get the choice of your shift (9 AM to 12 PM / 2 PM to 5 PM) based on your convenience. It will make you feel confident on use of Information technology. You can also save up to Rs. 300 in Exam fees compare to Offline mode.

Note: The flexibility of choosing date and shift will also depend on availability of seat on that particular day/shift. This option shell be made available in the month of January 2012.

Q. Can the date of exam once selected be changed, if required ?

Ans. No

Q. What will be the medium of Online examination ?
Ans. Medium of examination is English and Hindi both. You can also switch medium as many times as you want during the examination as every question will appear both in English and Hindi.

Q. Can I get a examination center of my choice ?
Ans. You can opt for city of your choice as per list of online exam cities at the time of filling application form only.

Q. How secure is the Online examination ?
Ans. It is very secure as human intervention is minimal

Q. How can I practice for Online examination ?

Ans. You can practice free of cost through web based mock test which will be available on CBSE website soon. This will give you actual idea of the format of Online Exam (Computer Based Test I.e.CBT mode).

Q. What will happen in case there is some problem in computer during the examination ?

Ans. There will be enough buffer systems available in the examination center to take care of such problems and time lost in change of system will be duly taken care as each and every second will be recorded by the server.

Q. When will the result of Online examination be declared ?
Ans.Combined result will be declared along with the offline examination candidates.

Q. Will there be a question booklet like in offline examination ?

Ans. In Online (CBT mode) exam the questions will appear on computer screen along with the answer options. Instruction page will also be displayed before the actual test begins.The time of reading of instructions will not be part of examination duration.

Q. Will I get the paper of online examination as we get in Offline exam ?

Ans. Yes, the paper will be mailed to you after the exam schedule is over.

Q. In case of problem in computer etc will there be some body to assist ?
Ans. Yes

Q. How will I answer a question in the Online examination ?
Ans. There will four options of each question. You have to click one of the options using your computer mouse which can be reviewed or re-answered any time during the duration of the examination

Q. How will I come to know which are the questions left unanswered ?

Ans. There will be a panel on computer screen showing all the question nos in different colour scheme which will indicate which are the questions answered, left unanswered and marked for review.

Q. Can I change my answer ?
Ans. Yes during the exam duration and it is one of the most important feature of online examination.

Q. If I have selected medium of question paper as English but want to see question in Hindi for more clarity or vice-a-versa, is this possible ?
Ans. Yes you can easily do with the click of computer mouse.

Q. Will I be getting some practice test ? If yes, than how and when ?

Ans. Yes , very soon you will get mock test software downloadable from CBSE / AIEEE website

Q. Is online Examination for B.E. and B.Tech only ?
Ans. Yes

Q. If I want to opt for both B.E./B.Tech and B.Planning/B.Arch from city of online exam, than how will I appear for B.Arch/B Planning exam ?
Ans. Your B.E./B.Tech Exam will be conducted in online mode and B.Planning/B.Arch in offline mode in the same city.

Q. Will I get sheets/papers for rough work/calculations etc ?
Ans. Yes very much.

Q. Will there be call centre support ?
Ans. Yes. There will be call centre support for candidates appearing in online examination.

Q. When will I have to report at exam centre ?
Ans. One and half hour before the exam time.

Q. What happens if the candidate has filled wrong particulars ?
Ans. Please see the correction process at the end of this document. This facility will be available w.e.f 23rd December, 2011.

Q. What happens if photo has been pasted without Name & Date or Date & Name has been written manually ?
Ans. The confirmation page will not be cancelled, if name & date has not been written by the candidate on Photo.

Q. What if the candidate’s photo is not attested ?
Ans. The confirmation page will not be cancelled.

Q. What if the candidate’s photo pasted is colored ?
Ans. The confirmation page will not be cancelled.

 

Q. What happens if the form has not been attested by a Gazetted officer/Principal of Institution ?
Ans. The attestation is required either by Gazetted officer/Principal of the last institution attended. If confirmation page sent earlier without attestation , the same may be sent again after attestation. There is a provision to re-print confirmation page on AIEEE site.

Q. If an applicant passed XIIth in 2009 but appeared for improvement in 2010 will he/she be eligible or not ?
Ans. Candidate passed in 2009 but appeared for improvement in 2010 onwards, the confirmation page will be rejected as such candidate is not eligibility to appear in AIEEE 2012.

Q. Can a candidate studying / appearing from other state, seek 1st center choice in different state ?
Ans. Center will be fixed within four choices by the candidate as far as possible.

Q. Is it compulsory to fill all 4 choices for center ?
Ans. Yes, every effort will be made to allot the Center within choices as far as possible.

Q. While filling state code of eligibility, which state is applicable ?
Ans. State code of eligibility is that from where the candidate passed/appearing in class XII.
However, in case of Indian nationals passing the equivalent qualifying examination from any institution abroad, the State of Eligibility will be determined on the basis of permanent address given in the Passport of the candidate.

Q. What can be done if the column of thumb impression on confirmation page is left blank ?
Ans. It is mandatory. You can reprint the confirmation page and send the same after putting thumb impression.

Q. If a candidate has entered wrong Demand Draft No or Not mentioned Demand Draft No. or entered wrong date of issue of Demand Draft or left blank the date of issue of demand draft, what should be done in such a case?
Ans. A chance will be given to correct the Demand Draft details. The candidates while checking their particulars may correct the same or fill up the same if already left blank. The form will not be rejected if wrong Demand Draft No has been mentioned. This facility will be available w.e.f 23rd December, 2011.
