Admission to DNB Post Diploma Courses through DNB PD CET 2013

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has invited applications for aspiring students who want to join various post diploma courses in modern medicine. The Diplomate National Board Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test (DNB PD CET) exam will be conducted in late August.


NBE shall be conducting the computer-based DNB PD CET exam at various test centres organised by the board for entry to the Diplomate National Board (DNB) courses given below. Candidates appearing for the test should be qualified in the diploma courses mentioned against each DNB course:

    Important dates

    1. Availability of bulletin cum examination fee voucher: 8 July, 2013
    2. Online registration and scheduling of DNB PD CET commences from: 8 July, 2013
    3. Last date for submission of examination fee vouchers: August 2, 2013
    4. Last date for online registration and scheduling: 4 August, 2013 (midnight IST)
    5. Examination date: 27 August, 2013

    Eligibility criteria

    In order to be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

    • Pass the final examination for postgraduate diploma certificates from recognised Indian universities (as per the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, Government of India) before 30 June, 2013 can apply for the CET examination.
    • Proof of passing/passed the postgraduate diploma final examination must be submitted on or before 30 June, 2013 at the time of counselling, failing which you will not be eligible to appear in the merit based counselling
    • If at any stage you are found not eligible, you will not be allowed to take the examination. In the unlikely circumstance that you take the examination and qualify, you will not be allowed a seat.
    • Requests for appearing in PD CET from candidates who are qualifying and getting their results for Basic Eligibility Qualification after 30 June, 2013 will not be acknowledged.
    • Candidates who have already joined courses of Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS) or DNB cannot appear for the examination unless they have completed the prescribed duration of the course or have been discharged from the course.
    • Registration or appearance for PD CET does not ensure any rights to NBE accredited hospitals or institutes.
    • Registration with the State Medical Council or Medical Council of India is Mandatory. Proof of the registration must be procured at the time of counselling.

    Exam pattern and syllabus

    1. The examination is computer based only
    2. The applicants must answer 180 multiple choice questions in English, each question carries one mark
    3. The standard of examination will be pertaining to the final exit examination of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
    4. Successful candidates will be called on for the centralised merit based counselling held by NBE for allotment of seats
    5. There is no negative marking
    6. Questions are allotted as follows:

    • Human Biology: 30
    • Applied Pathology, Microbiology and Pharmacology: 30
    • Medicine and Allied Sciences: 30
    • Surgery and Allied Sciences: 30
    • Obstetrics and Gynaecology: 30
    • Community Medicine: 30

    Application procedure

    • Bulletin cum examination fee brochure is available at selective Axis Bank Branches
    • Forms are also available online at the official website
    • To apply, create your profile, fill in an application and schedule your test
    • The test fee is Rs. 4,250
    • You must provide the following details pertaining to your MBBS, postgraduation diploma, dates and time you are available for taking the test
    • The system saves each step of registration, so in case you are unable to complete the entire process in one shot you can resume from where you have left off
    • Approximate time for filling an application is 15 minutes
