UPSC to conduct Engineering Services Exam 2013 from 28 June 2013
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the combined competitive Engineering Services Examination from 28 June, 2013 for recruitment of engineers to various categories of the Indian Engineering Services.
763 vacancies (including 19 vacancies for physically handicapped, PH, candidates) are expected to be filled on the basis of the 2013 exam. The number of vacancies is liable to change.
Important dates
The important dates for the Engineering Services Exam 2013 are given below:
- Last date to receive online applications: 6 May, 2013 (until 11:59 p.m.)
- Entrance exam to commence from: 28 June, 2013
- E-admit card available online: 3 weeks before the exam (around 7 June, 2013)
UPSC will inform the candidates whose applications are accepted for the exam about the time table and place of the exam.
Eligibility criteria
Interested candidates must be between 21 to 30 years of age and should have an engineering degree. For details about the age criteria, educational qualifications, nationality and physical standards of the applicants, you can visit the Engineering Services Exam 2013 Eligibility Criteria page.
Application procedure
Interested candidates have to apply online for the test. Make sure you apply before 11:59 p.m. on 6 May, 2013 as the online link to apply will be disabled after that.
Exam pattern
The Engineering Services Examination has a written part and an interview/personality test. The written examination has two sections: Section I (objective type questions) and Section II (conventional papers). There will be negative marking for wrong answers in the objective paper (Section I). The question papers are set only in English and the conventional paper must be answered in English. The objective paper (Section I) will be evaluated first, and those candidates that qualify will have the conventional paper (Section II) evaluated. Exam syllabus
The difficulty level of the exam should be similar to any other engineering degree examination of an Indian university.
