The National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), a premier ocean research institute of the Council for Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR), invites applications to pursue doctoral (Ph.D.) studies in oceanography January 2012 session.


Candidates with Masters of Science (in any field of specialization) having valid National Level Fellowships such as NET-JRF / SRF of CSIR-UGC and DST’s INSPIRE Fellowship or any other equivalent national fellowships and Project Assistants in CSIR-NIO with a minimum of one year experience are eligible to apply.

Upper Age Limit: 28 years as on 11.11.2011 and relaxation by 5 years to SC / ST / OBC / Woman / Physically handicapped candidates.

Project Assistants who are offered admission into Ph.D. program will be given an opportunity to compete for selection as interns under CSIR Golden Jubilee Research Internship (DJRI) Scheme. The DJRIs are eligible for monthly stipend of Rs.15000 for a period of two years.
