National Law University, Jodhpur Ph.D. Entrance Test 2013


The National Law University, Jodhpur exam 2013 is an entrance test for admission to the school's Ph.D. programme. Admission is not only conducted through this entrance test, but also through a personal interview. Only short-listed candidates will be considered for the interview.


The NLU entrance test is being offered for admission to two programmes:

  • Ph.D. programme (minimum two years)
  • Integrated Ph.D. programme (minimum four years)

Tentative areas for research:

  • Science: Physics, chemistry, life sciences
  • Law: Health law, taxation law, criminal law, trade law, family law, administrative law, environmental law, constitutional law, human rights, corporate law, intellectual property law, cyber law and security
  • Policy sciences: Psychology, economics, philosophy, English literature, history
  • Humanities
  • Management: Finance, banking, marketing, human resource management and quantitative techniques

Admission to these programmes, or programs, is subject to availability of vacancies and facilities by research area. Degrees are awarded by NLU in collaboration with the Institute of Management Technology (IMT).

Important dates

  • Notification: 19 March, 2013
  • Deadline for application form receipt: 28 June, 2013
  • Exam date: 7 July, 2013

The test will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on test day.

Eligibility criteria

Ph.D. programme

Postgraduate degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55 percent marks (or equivalent grade).

Integrated Ph.D. programme

Candidates should have graduated with an honours degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55 percent aggregate marks (or equivalent degree).

If you are a final-year student, you are eligible to apply to either programme provided that you full the necessary eligibility criteria prior to admission.

Exam pattern

Questions on the entrance test are subject-specific. These will be either short-answer type or multiple choice. The test is intended to evaluate candidates on the following criteria:

  • Numerical analysis
  • Language
  • Logical reasoning
  • Research aptitude
  • Subject knowledge

Application procedure

The application process consists of two steps:

  • Entrance test
  • Personal interview

The application form is available online at or in person from the office of the Registrar, National Law University, Nagaur Road, Jodhpur. The completed form, along with necessary documents and payment, should be sent to the address below in order to be received by 28 June, 2013. The fee for the entrance test is Rs. 2,500. You should pay for this fee as a demand draft, payable to the Registrar, National Law University, Jodhpur, payable at Jodhpur.

Admission is not guaranteed if you do well on the entrance test, you must also pass the personal interview. Admission is subject to availability of vacancies and facilities by research area. If you are short-listed due to your test results, you may be eligible for a personal interview.
