Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute Admission Test in September
Applications are invited for admission to postgraduate programme in Cinema by Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) from eligible candidates for the academic session 2013-2016.
The program
The postgraduate cinema program with specialization in Direction and Screenplay Writing, Cinematography, Sound Recording & Design, Editing and Producing for Film & Television is a three-year degree course for students interested in a career in film and television.

- Last date for application: 23 August, 2013; up to 5 p.m.
- Last date for release of admit cards: 27 August, 2013
- Date for written admission test: 1 September, 2013
- Declaration of result of written entrance test: 16 September, 2013
- OC and Interview: between 21 October and 29 October, 2013
- Declaration of results: 31 October, 2013
- Completion of admission for first qualifying list: 11 November, 2013
- Publishing of second list: 12 November, 2013
- Completion of admission for second qualifying list: 18 November, 2013
- Publishing of third list: 19 November, 2013
- Completing of admission of third qualifying list: 25 November, 2013

Eligibility criteria
- Minimum qualification for five courses is graduation in any discipline
- If you are in the qualifying year of your course, you must have the bachelor's degree by 14 August, 2013
- If you are applying for the Sound Recording & Design course, you must have 40 percent marks in either physics or mathematics in the +2 level
Exam pattern and selection process
The duration of the written examination is three hours, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The paper is divided into three sections divided as follows:
- First section: Mental aptitude, 30 marks
- Second section: Creative aptitude, 40 marks
- Third section: Specific area aptitude, 10 marks
Keep in mind the following:
- Answers to be written only in English
- There will be six groups in the paper and Group A (mental and creative aptitude) will be mandatory for all students, then you will have to choose any one section from other groups (B, C, D, E, F)
- There is no negative marking
- The cutoff marks for the written examination is 35 percent for general category and 30 percent for the reserved category
- If you have been selected for the entrance test, you will be sent for the interactive orientation and then to the interview session
- The final merit list will be prepared with 20 percent weightage to the written exam, 55 percent to the interactive orientation and 25 percent to the interview
- In case of a tie in the score of the written examination, one who scores more in the interview and interactive orientation will be getting preference
Documents required at time of interactive orientation
- Admit card
- Hard copy of application form
- Original mark sheets and attested photocopies of mark sheets
- Three stamp size colour photographs
- Parents/guardians income certificate
- Copy of income tax return
- Form 16 copy
- Copy of salary slip
- Income certificate from local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA)
- Photo ID with your postal address
- Caste certificate for reserved category candidates
Admission procedure
- Applications are available online
- The application fees have to be filled in selective State Bank Of India branches by downloading the bank challan available at the website
- Application fee is Rs. 2,000 for candidates apart from Schedule Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, and Rs. 500 for SC/ST candidates
- Incomplete applications will be rejected
