With a focus on economics demography and sociology The Institute of Economic Growth - IEG was established by Prof. V.K.R.V. Rao, a pioneer in economics, in 1958. The institute is recognized as one of the leading research institute in the areas of economics and social development.
Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru as the first president and Prof. Rao as the institute's first director had a vision behind the establishment.
