The IES Syllabus 2023 is divided into various sections as per the pattern of the prelims and mains phases. All branches of engineering—civil, mechanical, electrical, and electronic telecommunications—follow the same General Studies Engineering Aptitude syllabus. Understanding the IES Syllabus is essential to strategize your preparation level to get through the exam. To strategically plan your level of preparation to pass the exam, you must understand the ISE Syllabus.There are three phases to the examination, which are as follows:

  • Stage-I: Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination
  • Stage-II: Engineering Services (Mains) Examination
  • Stage-III: Personality Test

Every year, the UPSC conducts the Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam to hire engineers for techno-managerial positions.The four engineering disciplines—civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and electronics telecommunications engineering—are covered by the exam.

IES Syllabus for General Studies and Engineering Aptitude

The IES syllabus for General Studies and Engineering Aptitude is common in all four domains of IES examination. Each topics General Studies and Engineering Aptitude has a weightage of 5% to 15% of the total marks.
