IIT Delhi - Hostel and Campus

The programmes offered at IIT Delhi are residential in nature. The student has to live in the campus till the completion of their course. The IIT Delhi offers hostel facility for both men and women students within the campus. Besides offering hostels other facilities including mess is also provided and students do not require rushing out side for fulfilling basic needs. IIT Delhi Faculty Guest House

Besides the hostels there are couple of localities besides IITD where single room, two room sets and rooms on sharing basis are rented out. At most of the places meals are served at door step in lieu of advance payment submitted at the nearby Dhabas/ Restaurants.

Approximate Rents

Note: The rent will differ from area to area.

A monthly expenditure for a student with average standard of living, (middle class) hiring a single room set would be around 4500 to 5000 Rs/month.

IIT Delhi Campus life

Hostel life is definitely one of the most enjoyable part of a students life and IITD is no exception to it. The hostels at the premier institute boast of all possible facilities a student would need to dwell in to a comfortable student life.

The hostels have common room, cyber cafe, mess, a music room and a TV room. Besides all the room in the hostels are provided with LAN and internet connection. Inter hostel events are regular features where the freshers are encouraged to participate and exploit their extra-curricular potential.

The three annual events go a big way in building the leaders of the future. Rendezvous, Tryst and Sport-Tech. the events give the students to come up with all their extra academic abilities and potential. With a nation wide participation and competition it creates a healthy atmosphere of challenge and fun at the same time. These bring a much awaited break by the students from their busy academic schedule.

The City

Weather of the city is geographically classified as hot and humid, having a continental climate.

Hot summers with temperature touching 40 degrees celcius is normal phenomena where as the winters can have a day with 15 degrees celcius. Rainfall is around 120 mm and springs and autumns carry uniqueness of their own.
