IIT Kanpur - Admission
Admission to different programmes offered at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) is made on the basis of entrance examinations.The IITK admission council accepts the percentile score/rank obtained by a candidate as a basic standard to call a candidate for Interview/Group Discussion/Counseling etc. However,the final admission is made on the basis of overall performance of a candidate in entrance examination/group discussion/interview/counseling etc.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)

Joint Admission Test to M.Sc.(JAM)
Joint Admission Test to M.Sc.(JAM) is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technologies – IITs for admission to Master of Science ( M.Sc.) and other post–B.Sc. programmes offered at the 7 different Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). In a given academic year, any one of the 7 IITs take the responsibility for the conduct of JAM test.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an All-India Examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT’s). Admission to ME and MTech programs largely depends upon GATE percentile score.
JMET
Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET ) is the first step in the process of admission to the two year full time Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by the IITs. JMET is only a qualifying examination. Candidates have to apply separately to the Institutes of their choice. For details click here.

Fellowship
(I) Endowment for UG Scholarships :
Scholarship :
- Minimum Rs. 1000/- pm for 10 months
Eligibility :
- Merit-cum-means (minimum CPI)
- Academic excellence (CPI and No Income Limit)
- Academic Excellence in particular department (CPI and No Income Limit)
Criteria : To be decided by the Senate Scholarships & Prizes Committee from time to time.
(II) Endowment for PG scholarships :
- Fellowship :
- Minimum Rs. 10000/- pm for entire year.
- Minimum Rs. 2000/- pm (research support) on top of Institute scholarship.
- International Travel Scholarship (to partially support participation in International Conferences, etc.).
Criteria : To be decided by the Senate Scholarships & Prizes Committee from time to time.
(III) Amount of Donation
Recommended endowment corpus to be given by donor = 20 times the annual value of scholarship.
This assumes 5% rate of return on investment. If rate of return is higher, the excess amount will be reinvested with corpus.
The amount of scholarship will be reviewed by Senate Scholarships & Prizes Committee from time to time.
