Mission Admission: IIM Udaipur MBA Batch 2017-19

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Udaipur is the eleventh IIM in India and was established in 2011. Admission to IIM Udaipur will take place through CAT 2016 scores, and this will be followed by rounds in Written Ability Test (WAT), and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. The Post Graduate Program (PGP) batch of 2017-2019 is the fourth batch from this institute, and the batch will consist of approximately 120 students.

It is a full-time two-year course which leads you to a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM-U. The two years of study are divided into six trimesters, along with a compulsory period for the summer internship, at the end of the first year of study. The curriculum undergoes changes as per the needs of the industry, by the faculty.

The cut-off for CAT 2016 is 90 percentile. Along with the CAT 2016 score and the Personal Appearance (PA) round, your profile will also play an important role in the process of shortlisting and selection.

Shortlisting for the Personal Appearance round is solely based on your score in CAT 2016. The table below shows the cut off percentiles for different categories of candidates:

The cutoff percentile for General Category candidates at IIM Udaipur stands at a high of 90 for the 2017-2019 session while the lowest cutoff percentile stands at 65 for ST & DAP candidates. There has not been much change in the cutoff percentile at IIM Udaipur in the last couple of years.

The merit list will be prepared only after the common Personal Appearance round is conducted by IIM Trichy for the six newly established IIMs. The Personal Appearance round will be common to the six IIMs in KashipurRaipurRanchiRohtakTiruchirapally, and Udaipur. The criteria by which the merit list will be prepared include factors like your CAT score, performance in the PA round, your profile, and diversity factor.

The weight for the selection criteria is as below:

The Personal Appearance round for IIM Udaipur will give a weightage of 10% to the Written Analysis Test and 20% for the Personal Interview round.

The profile criteria depends on your academics and work experience, and the individual weights for this section are as below:

The Academic Profile depends on your performance in tenth grade, twelfth grade and in undergraduate studies.

For Gender Diversity, female candidates will be awarded 15 marks, while male candidates are not awarded any marks for this.

In terms of Educational Diversity, all disciplines apart from that of engineering will be awarded 15% marks to ensure academic and education diversity. The different streams which will be awarded the 15% are as below:

1. Arts & Humanities – Anthropology, Archaeology, Economics, Education, Geography, History, Languages, Law, Liberal Arts, Library and Information Science, Literature, Mass Communication and Journalism, Music, Performing Arts (Dance/Drama/Theater), Philosophy, Political Science, Physical Education, Psychology, Public Administration, Social Work, Sociology, Statistics, etc.

2. Commerce – Accounting, Auditing, Banking, Chartered Accountancy, Costs & Works Accountancy, etc.

3. Science – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, etc.

4. Others – Management, Medicine, Pharmacy, etc.

IIM Udaipur’s Admission Committee will decide the number of candidates that will be called for the Personal Appearance round, based on the shortlisted merit list that was prepared for each category. If the number is less than what is required, then the overall and section-wise cut offs for CAT will be reduced (or increased) until the required number of candidates are called.

A candidate that receives the offer of admission from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Udaipur needs to send along the Offer Letter and the Offer Acceptance Amount of INR 50,000 within a stipulated date. If a candidate decides to withdraw the offer within the specified time mentioned in the Offer Letter, the Offer Acceptance Amount will be refunded, after INR 1,000 is deducted for processing charges. No refund will be applicable to candidates who apply for withdrawal of their admission after the date mentioned in the Offer Letter is passed. If the candidate registers for the management programme, the Offer Acceptance Amount will be adjusted against the fees for the first term, Term I. If the candidate withdraws from the programme after registration, no refund will be made.

Apart from IIM Udaipur, nine other IIMs have also announced their Admission Criteria for the batch of 2017-2019. These IIMs include the ones in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Rohtak, Shillong, Raipur, and Trichy.
