Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS and DHMS)

A BHMS degree is a Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery, while a DHMS degree is a Diploma in Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery. Both of these undergraduate courses are part of the alternative, holistic medical field. Homoeopathy (homeopathy) focuses on “strengthening the immune system and healing like with like,” and can be followed up by an MD (Doctor of Medicine degree).

 

The length of the BHMS program is usually about five and a half years, including a one year internship, while the DHMS program is about four years long, including a six-month internship. The cost of the BHMS program varies based on institution, and could be anywhere from Rs. 36,000 it is generally up to two to three lakh. The cost of the DHMS program varies based on institution.

Eligibility criteria to pursue BHMS and DHMS

The requirements for both the DHMS degree and the BHMS degree programs are as follows:

  • Students must be at least 17 years of age at time of admission, and pass the Intermediate Science (10+2) exam or its equivalent in the subjects of physics, chemistry, and biology.
  • For the BHMS program, there is also an entrance exam that must be taken as well.
