Bihar Intermediate Humanities topper flubs TV interview
The poor pass percentage in this year's Bihar Intermediate exams has given rise to a number of controversies. 64 per cent of students failed the board exams this year. Several riots and 2 suicide cases have been recorded so far. A large number of science stream students appeared in JEE Advance 2017, but scored as low as 1, 2 or 4 in subjects like Physics and Maths in the board exams.
Recently, Ganesh Kumar, class XII Board topper in Humanities stream failed to answer basic questions on music which was one of his subjects in the finals and he scored 65/70 in it. 24-year-old Kumar appeared for the board exams at Ramnandan Singh Jagdip Narayan High school in Samastipur's Chhakhabib village and scored 82.6%. He got 92% in Hindi, 82% in music and 42% in social science.
When the media asked Ganesh about 'sur', 'taal' & 'mantra', he stumbled to explain them. Moreover, he said singer Lata Mangeshkar is known as 'Maithili Kokila', a title awarded to folk singer Sharda Sinha, who is from Samastipur, where his school is situated. Reportedly Kumar's school cancelled a function to felicitate him following the controversy. State Education Minister Ashok Choudhary, after a meeting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, said, "The board chairman has himself said the evaluation process was carried out in a proper manner, the media is always looking to rake up something negative."
