IIT Bombay to conduct road safety courses for government engineers

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in association with MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited)  is going to conduct a course on road safety for government engineers due to the rising concern over the growing number of highway accidents.

According to a recent report, there has been around 15000 accidents between the year 2002-2014 with almost 1400 deaths. The survey was carried out for one of the busiest highways in India, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Kiran Kurundkar, Joint Managing Director of MSRDC said that there is hardly any curriculum related to road safety for the engineering degree which is why MSRDc has associated with IIT Bombay to impart certificate course on road safety to train the government engineers of the country.
