India University Rankings 2017: Government to release the rankings on April 3
As per the official website of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), the India Rankings Report 2017 will be released by the HRD Ministry on April 3, 2017. The India Rankings was introduced last year to recognize the Indian universities and educational institutions and help them make their mark in global rankings as well.
In India Rankings 2016, around 3500 private and public colleges and universities participated. The National Bureau of Accreditation (NBA) ranked these institutions based on 5 parameters - Graduation Outcome, Teaching and Learning Resources, Perception, Research Productivity, and Outreach and Inclusion. Self-disclosure of information by the institutions played the major role in the judgement process.

Among all the management institutions, IIMs occupied the leading positions. IIM Bangalore was ranked first followed by the IIMs of Ahmedabad, Calcutta, and Lucknow. Ranked at 7, the International Management Institute (New Delhi) was the only private institute in the top 10 list of management institutes.
IIT Madras was deemed as the best engineering college last year and occupied the first position. As predicted, the first five positions were occupied by IITs.

IISc Bangalore occupied the first position among all the universities across India and Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences was the top college in the category of Pharmacy.
