The Ministry of Human Resource Development declared that the 6th Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 will be conducted on the 8th of April, 2018. The JEE (Main) is conducted by the JEE Apex Board for admission to engineering programmes in IITs, IIITs, NITs, ISM Dhanbad and other centrally-funded technical institutions.

Aspirants can fill their applications on the official JEE website,, once the application process starts on 1st of December, 2017. The last date to fill the application is 1st of January, 2017. Students applying for the JEE (Main) have to mandatorily have the Aadhaar card as a directive from CBSE. The only exceptions to this are students from the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and Meghalaya. The online information bulletin in detail is available on the official website as well.

The states which are a part of the JEE (Main) system include Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland, and Odisha, which use the exam for admissions to state-run and private engineering colleges.

JEE (Main) is a precursor and qualifying admission for JEE Advanced which is the entrance examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology from across the country.
