The number of registrations for CAT has went upto 2.32 lakhs this year. Previously, the last date for CAT 2016 registration was 22 September, however due to increasing requests from aspirants, the deadline was extended till 27 September, 5:00 p.m. The number of applicants were 2.08 lakhs till 22 September, which increased when the deadline was extended by five days.

Last year, there were 2.1 lakhs registrations. Before 27 September, the highest number of registration that was seen for CAT was 2.4 Lakhs in 2009. CAT is held every year for admission to the IIMs and top B-schools of the country. This year the exam has been scheduled on 4 December.

Surprisingly, this growth is seen during a time when the 2 year MBA programs are losing popularity globally. Why this same program is gaining popularity in India is because our country has one of the most promising market globally and students are eager to take advantage of this growth.
