MHT CET can Get as Tough as JEE from 2018
In a recent meeting conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), the officials discussed about bringing some changes in the existing pattern of MHT-CET, the state level entrance examination for admission to engineering courses and to make it at par with the national level Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
Dayanand Meshram, The Joint Director of DTE said that the process for MHT CET has already started for this year and new changes can only be implemented in 2018. Some of the decisions that was taken in the recent meeting was to include both the syllabus of class X and XII for the MHT CET entrance, similar to JEE which covers subjects from both the standards. The level will also be set tougher so that only the best could get through. Also, if the difficulty level for MHT CET is raised, there will be a bigger market for coaching classes to help aspirants crack the examination like it happens for JEE.
Kiran Patil, Deputy Secretary, Higher and Technical education, said that this decision shall be fruitful for students as they won’t have to face problems if the decision to conduct a common entrance test is taken in the future like in case of NEET entrance examination where the decision was taken to conduct a common entrance for medical and dental courses.
