National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai was established in 1963 by Government of India with help from United Nations Development Project (UNDP). NITIE is an autonomous institution and comes under the purview of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) of Government of India. In recent years, NITIE has rated as one of the top 20 institutions for providing management education in the country. It has been identified as a center of excellence along with the IISc, IITs, and IIMs.Â
NITIE campus is located in picturesque environs of north Mumbai; the campus is bordered by Vihar Lakes and Powai.
