  • What are the requirement for studying in Dubai?

Following is the qualification for studying in Dubai for  bachelors, masters, MBA, engineering,and PhD programs in Dubai universities.

 
  1. For BBA, BA Courses, completion of grade 12 and  a minimum average score of 60%.

  2. For BS Courses in Engineering, completion of grade 12 and  a minimum average score of 60%. Also the candidate must have studied and passed Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics up till grade 12.

  3. A good test score in TOEFL/IELTS is required.

  • Admission Process

Undergraduate and graduate admissions to the universities is different from institution to institution and from one program of study to the other.

Some common guidelines are as follows:

  1. Students who fulfill the general and program admission requirements of the University will be issued an admission letter to the undergraduate program of their interest.

  2. Upon receipt of the admission letter, the student must confirm his/her acceptance by completing the section provided for this purpose in the admission letter.

  3. The student must pay the admission fee to reserve a seat in the program of his/her interest.

  • Is the TOEFL or IELTS exam, a requirement for admission in Zayed University?

No. However, these tests are requirements for admission in the undergraduate credit level courses and programs of the Zayed University.

  • What is the tuition for International Students at Zayed University?

Tuition for any of the academic programs at Zayed University is AED 75000 per academic year. This fee is exclusive of the cost of the required laptop.

  • Can you get admission in Dubai colleges after GED?

Yes. A candidate can get admission in Dubai colleges after GED. However, admission criteria varies from college to college. Candidates must contact the Centre for Executive Education in Dubai Knowledge Village, who accept students after GED into their popular Higher National Diploma in Business.

Following this, students may proceed for the final year of Bachelors with several Universities in Dubai or abroad.

International Students can work part time for 20 hours a week in free zone areas they are required to get the permission from universities.

A No-Objection Certificate is needed in Dubai whenever a person wishes to apply for a bank account, telephone,to buy a car, liquor license, or for any immigration related business. The letter comes from the person’s sponsor or employer. One should have copies in both Arabic and English.

  • How hot does it get in Dubai?

  • Is it better to bring stationery items,like notebooks from India or is it better to buy them in Dubai?

As most airlines levy a weight restriction of about 30-33 kg on the baggage, it is not recommended to get registers and notebooks. However, it is advisable that students get ordinary stationery items like pens, pencils, scientific calculator, and the like.

  • Do I need to bring along a laptop?

There is no need to carry a laptop from one’s home country. Purchasing a computer in Dubai is cheaper and the configurations are much higher.

  • How to get a mobile connection in Dubai?

Etisalat is UAE Government’s telecom company and it provides prepaid phone sim cards called Wasel. There is also a private operator called Du which was recently launched and it gives attractive prepaid card offers.

  • Can I acquire permanent residency in the UAE?

No, you cannot acquire a permanent residency visa in Dubai. Residency in the UAE is only temporary but it is renewable.

  • Can I get UAE citizenship?

An expatriate is not eligible for UAE citizenship. Only those persons born of parents who are both UAE citizens or born to a father, who is a UAE citizen, can get UAE citizenship.

  • How many Public holidays are there in UAE?

There are many public holidays throughout the year. Holidays are timed as per the local sightings of different phases of the moon, hence dates given in advance are usually approximations. Ramadan is an important holiday for all Muslims, marking the revelation of the Quran.
